The winner of this year's GMB/7SL Contest, :iconsyntheticplatypus: won a full-colour picture of whatever she wanted (assuming I could actually y'know, draw it) and chose the Silk Spectre from Watchmen. More specifically the movie version, for which I was really grateful--the comics version is rather . . .difficult to draw effectively.

I made some minor tweaks to the movie suit (garter belts on the shoulders? Why?) in the name of streamlining it and since I wasn't too confident about my ability to capture any Watchmen character, I decided to liven things up with a couple Easter eggs for fans of the book in the background.

Congratulations :iconsyntheticplatypus: ! I hope you like it!

I love love love it!

I like how you (of all people :)) are stream lining designs.

The spray paint and sign are a good wink to the Watchmen!

Yay, Prize Pic!

Great costume and it compliments her fantastic figure. Who watches the Watchmen? Well, I haven't seen it yet.

Glad ya liked it. It's probably impossible to tell, as I couldn't do likenesses for nothin', but I was thinking Erica Campbell when I was drawing her.

Makes two of us! :)

There is that as well. Hell sounds like more fun than heaven though. All that harps and clouds stuff must get old real quick.

Oh, I think you did a better than just average job of capturing the movie character. There are several aspects of the movie I sort of prefer to the original - just there are others I found to be hamfisted at best. But that outfit probably works a lot better on a real woman than the comic book design would.

(I would suppose some of the weirder bits like the garters on the shoulder were because they were a subtle commentary on movie hero costumes. Or maybe they are just really weird fetishists.)

Ho ho, Nostalgia! That's a great one to throw into the background! :)

Yeah, the Nostalgia poster was subtle commentary on comics. My Watchmen, if you will. ;)

You know--I've never seen the movie. I should get around to seeing it one day.

Glad you liked this one! :) Thanks for the :+fav:!

I just tumbled to the caption. Nice!

The movie...well. I liked parts of it (the titles are really clever), but others slide into ridiculousness or gratuitous violence. There's one bit in particular that bothered me not so much because of the imagery (seen that), but it was so lacking in subtlety compared to the comic. I know, shocking, right?

It's worth a watch. I'd suggest the regular cut before diving into extended version land, just to see how it feels.

You are welcome!

Maybe I can add it to the ol's Netflix and get it over with. :)Does the extended cut really add anything one way or t'other?

You know, I only saw it in the theater, and not on DVD, so I can't tell you for sure. The regular cut is missing the fate of Hollis Mason, and probably other bits of peripheral stuff we'd know about.

There's also some sort of uber edition which incorporate the Black Freighter thing into it. It is something like 4 plus hours, I believe?

Good grief? 4 hours of Watchmen? That's a lot of blue wang to sit through. :)

That was an unexpected choice! I like it! The Easter Eggs in the background are a great touch too. :)

It was for me, for sure . . .of all the Watchmen characters, I don't think that Silk Spectre's usually the first one folks want. :) Glad you caught them and I'm glad you liked it!
